The back of the ship...I never saw anybody using that pool....could have been something to do with the freezing temps!!
This was the morning after leaving Seattle.
Sitting on the bench with the name of the ship, "Westerdam" behind us. And yes, flip-flops were my footwear of choice while on the boat...a little cold, but hey, easy on and off!!
The front of the ship.
Our first Formal Dress dinner. There were three other couples at our table; they were all from Texas, they all knew each other and were old enough to be our grandparents.
Peter and I staked out a spot at the bow the ship on the day we cruised by Glacier Bay. We stayed out there for about 6 hours...it was sunny but very windy and cold.
A WHALE!! Well, the fin of a whale anyway.
Getting closer to Glacier Bay.
There's the first glacier we saw...I forget the name though
What a gorgeous day.
The John Hopkins glacier...it goes some 12 miles back!! And look at all the icebergs!
The Marjorie glacier...the ship stayed here for about an hour
Here we witnessed the glacier calving several times. It was pretty loud when the ice cracked and impressive to see it crash into the water.
You can see the waves it made...
The view from the balcony in our room...
Juneau, AK...waiting for the bus
The Mendenhall glacier in Juneau
After several miles of hiking (about 15 in fact), we got an up close look at the Mendenhall glacier.
Inside the ice cave...look how blue it is
Visiting Sitka, AK. What a pretty town, so quiet and quaint. You can see our cruise ship in the background.
Another view of the ship...it was tendered out, so we were taken ashore on the life boats.
Ketchikan, AK...famous for Dolly's House (see it in the background) she was a famous prostitute until about 1959. The street behind us is called Creek Street, the Red Light district, no longer 'Red Light' but a tourist trap with lots of gift shops.
