The 'OTHER' summer vacation....

Peter has requested that I post some pictures of the other vacation we took this summer. In July, (before I created this blog) we went to Coos Bay, OR for an entire week. This has become a tradition in my family to go up there and take our quads and motorcycles to ride the sand dunes. The dunes, that we like best to ride, are situated between Highway 101 and the Oregon coast. So the weather is perfect in the summer...occasionally we do get rained on though. This year we rented a different house from years previous, it was pretty much brand new and really, really nice. The house is on a lake and we can ride our quads from the garage directly to the dunes...pretty awesome!!

Here we are roasting marshmallows on the back deck of the house. There was a fire pit out back...how cool is that?!!

Here is the lake below the house. Two purple kayaks were on the shore for us to use.

Everybody in their jerseys, ready for a ride!!

Warren was scared of the loud noise of the quads, but I strapped him into the Bjorn and braved a ride to the beach. Once we started going he was enjoying himself. Georgia was in the baby backpack on Peter's back and she absolutely loves riding on the quad. The beach is only a five mile quad ride from the house.

Warren at the ocean...it was a bit cold, but a very nice sunny day.

We also like to go tide pooling...here is Georgia with a (dead) crab, at least it was mostly intact and not picked apart by the seagulls. The tide was not very low by the time we got out to the coast, but it was still fun.

At the place I like to call 'Quad Hill'. It is hard to tell from the pictures, but it is very steep with sharp turns that are hard to make when you have to full throttle the quad.

Peter is stuck here...see the back left-hand tire, it is buried halfway.

A good picture of the rooster tail Peter makes while going up this hill. The sand is so loose right there, it is all fluff.

And the inevitable happens, Peter's quad almost flips over on him and he has to jump off and push the quad upright. My sister said she has never seen Peter be so graceful as when he jumped off his quad, perfect form with legs together!!
